The Share

Could you tell that we’ve been off the CSA wagon for a little bit? It was the end of the season, and we ended up taking a couple of additional weeks off. This was good. I needed a little break, but here we are in harvest season and we’re back into the CSA routine.

The Haul:

  • carrots
  • tomatoes
  • tomatillos
  • lettuce
  • kale
  • spinach
  • parsley
  • watermelon
  • delicata squash (yay!)

Also, there were turnips.

I don’t even know where to start with the turnip thing. It’s not that I can’t get into the turnips at all. I’m similarly perplexed by daikon and I don’t feel the need to give the occasional radish the side-eye. But I think the key term there is “occasional.” This unyielding flood of turnips would make even the most devoted turnip lover cry for mercy. Surely there have to be other root vegetables that grow now?

Meanwhile, we were meant to be getting a mini box and ended up with a full share this week. There may have been more veggies in there than what I’m listing, but Sam processed it, and this is what I remember from my quick glance in the fridge.

I haven’t really devised a plan yet…
