The Share

Where we used to live, in South Bend, one of my neighbors once remarked that his whole life consisted of moving things from one place to another. At the time, this seemed like a sad and true confession, one that applied to my life as well. And that was before we had kids. Now that there are four little hands moving things around too, putting items back where they belong truly is a full-time gig.

The CSA adds another element to the moving things around bit. It sure is easier to get your veggies all washed and packed up nice (in handy little containers that you eventually throw out), and then just dump them into the fridge in neat little piles. Instead, we now have a once-weekly veggie wash-up and kitchen clean-up. Of course it’s worth it, but it’s still work.

The Share:

  • Beets
  • Turnips
  • Basil
  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Bok Choi
  • Collards
  • Arugula
  • Eggplants
  • Brussels Sprouts

The Plan:

  • Pickle the turnips
  • Beets go into salad

Much of the rest was given away in anticipation of a week without much eating at home. Since I still have leftovers from the other share, there will still be great veggie recipes this week!
