The Share

Through some logistical weirdness, I did not get my usual share this week. This also turned out to be the week that Sam was offered a free share from another CSA who he has been helping by subscribing members at his University. They now have enough to have it be a drop spot, and offered Sam some free veggies as a thank you. It’s a fun offering because they definitely have some different varieties than we are used to seeing. Specifically…

The Haul:

  • Tomatillos
  • Heirloom Tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Green Peppers
  • Haas Avacados (4)
  • Lacinato Kale
  • Red Russian Kale
  • Armenian Cucumbers (really melon!)
  • Swiss Chard (of course!)
  • Cilantro
  • Geode Squash (2)
  • Spaghetti Squash
  • Spinach
  • Ruby Lettuce
  • Green Onions
  • Arugula
  • Eggplant
  • Baby Pam pumpkins
  • Candy Stripe Beets
  • Cilantro
  • Valencia Oranges

The Plan:

  • Kale Alfredo sauce over homemade squash tortellini
  • Tomato Spinach Goat cheese tostadas with tomatillo salsa
  • Chard and Garbanzo Bean soup
  • Beet and arugula salad with goat cheese and walnuts

All the rest will become sides except the pumpkin which will probably become dessert, and the eggplant will go to my coworker who requested any eggplant that I wasn’t using.
